Snowboard Club UK FAQs (frequently-asked questions)

Category: Main -> SCUK -> The Club

Question

Answer

So what exactly is the Snowboard Club UK all about and what is SCUK?

Snowboard Club UK is a new initiative between Duncan Worrell of TheBoarder.co.uk and partners Stuart Brass and Spencer Claridge of Soul Sports. Dunx, Stu and Spence to our friends.

We like to call Snowboard Club UK "SCUK" and our mission is to bring together all that the scene and industry have to offer and create a one stop shop for all snowboard enthusiasts who share a passion for snowboarding, whether they are amateurs, professionals, families, oldies or youngsters.

Duncan Worrell, editor of TheBoarder says of the new Snowboard Club

"TheBoarder website was launched in 1997 and has grown to become Europe's favourite snowboard website. It has always had one clear goal - to serve the interests of UK snowboarders. Teaming up with Stuart Brass and Spencer Claridge, creates a great team. SCUK will combine their knowledge of the UK snowsports industry with TheBoarder's fantastic customer base, allowing us to more actively and effectively serve the interests of UK snowboarders and provide benefits that TheBoarder could not have hoped to provide alone. In becoming SCUK, the evolution of TheBoarder continues."

What are the benefits of joining SCUK?

The simple answer is to save you money. The joining pack alone is worth around £100. We also have a heap of discounts available, plus our own kick ass insurance scheme to keep you covered on the slopes.

But SCUK hopes to be more than just a discount scheme and the hope is that the website will continue to develop the community that TheBoarder started.

So what do I get when I first join SCUK?

When you join you get a membership pack that contains your membership cards and the gifts and items you selected when you made you application. We may also throw in a few more bits and bobs like stickers if we like the cut of your jib.

The definitive description of the membership pack can be found here.

Okay, I'm convinced. How do I join the Club?

You can click here to become a member of Snowboard Club. The online application is the only way to join SCUK at the present time. We hope the pages presented are fairly self-explanatory, but if you have any difficulties they just get in touch and we'll help you out.

I don't have a credit or debit card. Is that a problem?

No, you can also send us a cheque. Just click on the "Pay by Cheque" button when you see it on the Confirm Membership Application screen.

How safe is it using your credit / debit cards online?

That's a difficult question to answer.

We use the services of WorldPay to process our credit / debit card payments. That's about as secure as you can get online.

We believe entering your credit / debit card details through WorldPay is considerably more secure that leaving your card behind the bar at your local, giving it over the phone or even handing it over to be swiped in a petrol station.

If you are concerned, you can always send us a cheque instead. Just click on the "Pay by Cheque" button when you see it on the Confirm Membership Application screen.

I would like to apply for membership on behalf of a friend as a birthday present. How can I do this?

When the Shop launches next year, you'll be able to order through that. In the meantime you can order a voucher by post.

Recipients simply log on, enter the code on the voucher and select their own personal membership gifts. It takes the hassle out of worrying whether:

a) The colour of garment matches their eyes
b) The DVD’s their preferred choice
c) Their bum looks big in this

Costs are as usual: £25 Junior, £30 Adult, £70 Family

Just send your address, plus a cheque payable to Snowboard Club Ltd, B5, Enterprise Point, Melbourne St, Brighton, BN2 3LH.

My membership is due for renewal on Jan 14th - but I'm wondering if it's possible for me to renew it now as I've lost my card? (and paying too much at xscape ;) ) Is there anyway of doing this?

If you lose your card you have two options. One is to buy a replacement, which is covered elsewhere. In your case we can simply change the date on which your membership expires so you can renew early. You'll need to email dunx@snowboardclub.co.uk and ask him to do this.

Can you please tell me when new discount codes will be released, such as the one with Westbeach for 10% as I spoke with them on the phone and they said that the current one will no longer work as it is 08. Thanks

As with any discount, if you receive a problem obtaining it you should always email info@snowboardclub.co.uk

We'll try to sort them out asap.

I am looking for a SCUK family membership, but i can not find any details other than single membership. please help family of 2 adults 2 children. cheers

We no longer have a family membership scheme because at £70 it would have been more expensive than 4x £15 full memberships introduced to replace all the old membership types. Also, less than 1% of our memberships were family memberships.
