only a complete metrosexual would feel comfortable buying the nail varnish in the first place.....
can you not come up with a suggestion of something we can do from a mans shops like halfords rather than from the cosmetic counter in boots......real men drink pints and stuff...
I think the SCUK management should give you your own column sidge....Changing Sidgets, or DIY Sidget-Ex,........where each week you could give us an insight into your mind!!  |

Nail polish was just an example, if you're really that uncomfortable buying it you could use a rubber based paint, which would be better as i presume the back of that binding is slightly padded, do you'd need something that would flex
Then use a clear coat to varnish over it - heck, you could probably use PVA as your varnish if you coat it lightly, drys pretty clear and it will flex + its pretty waterproof to cold temperatures, it might rub off over time but it would just look like snow shavings ^^ |

Humbrol sell enamel paints - as far as i know, they are waterproof
They cost around £1.50 a little 15mm pot
You could probably buy all you need from here http://www.modelhobbies.co.uk/shop/
If its plastic your painting i'd reccomend sanding off the white colour, the base plastic is usually grey, then you spray paint it with some white enamel paint for your base and your white checks, then go over it with the black
For the black checks you could use paint, or if you want it to look really good, you could make up a stencil using grid paper then transfer onto card, or if you want polker dots you could get a piece of card from a cereal box and punch holes in it from a hole punch, then put it against the bindings and use black enamel spray paint for the dots
The same store does a varnish in the tinlet, but i reckon its solvent based, which *could* cause the paints to run, you might be ok using it after you've left the paints to dry for a whole day
