yea £160 for a basic one is a bit steep if there not that good,
but it would be worth every penny in down times if its was actually 'like snowboarding the streets' as they claim...

Yeh, I considered getting one as well but as you said, it's a bit steep...

I have read reviews that it is snowboarding on wheels but i've also heard that it isn't worth the money...

I work for the UK distributor of Freebords and have to say that the feedback from people who have bought them has been excellent. They have to be ridden like a snowboard with your weight on you front foot otherwise if you ride them like a skateboard you'll come a cropper. You can also catch an edge like you can on a snowboard. You can carve on them as the outer wheel act like your edges and the middle wheels give you the ability to slideslip/skid. If you want to test one come into the MK Bucks Boarding store as we have one you can demo.

There are some shops in the Manchester area that will possibly be stocking Freebords but we are still in talks. When i know more I'll let you know.

Have a look on the Freebord.com site for US prices.

They look great, if you live in rural US, or you dont have any road congestion, cant see to many places that you could use em, you obviously need hills!

We have found places in MK to use them and there is a growing piste network throughout the UK where people have mapped and graded hills on roads, parks etc. There is going to be a big meet in Grenwich next month too.

Take a look on the site and you can see one of the guys does street rails on his so you don't entirely need hills. Also there are some videos of people riding down the main streets in San Fran, which i wouldn't say is rural. Steve (head BBC bod) has been towed behind the back of a car wake stlyie. Hills are an important part of using one, but snowboarding needs hills too, hence why its like snowboarding.
