chelsea want to build a stadium around battersea power station. The first thing i thought of was where the london freeze will have to relocate to ?? It would be a shame to loose a quality event like that. |

Battersea is a grade II* listed building, major landmark and event location for lots of events....I'd be suprised is they let a football club demolish it to build a stadium!
If the local council approve the sale then it will be purly for money and they dhould be shot! |

| I'd heard that Chelsea have come up with a scheme that retains all the major features apparently, which presumably would satisfy the listed thing... |

The plans and artist impression have been released and they intend to keep the stadium and build a stand into it. The whole power station isnt listed only certain parts of it. It wont happen though, partly because they cant sell the exisiting site and they dont own the pitch, the fans own it and wont let them build on it.
Plus chelsea cant fill their existing stadium so i've no idea why another 20 thousand empty seats would be of any use to them. |

| Board-X was previously at Battersea Park and Alexandra Palace to name two possible alternative venues. |

The CPO's are going to be left with an expensive bit of land, some profit and not a warm welcome to the owners fully funded new stadium.

As stated by Limz, does rely a little bit on whether Chelsea Pitch Owners would allow Stamford Bridge to be sold. I think one of the reasons CPO turned down a request last year was that they wanted to retain Chelsea football clubs history.
What, all 8 years of it?! |

This is from a Boro fan I take it...ha ha
The board and owners want consent from the fan's and the CPO's (along with the financial profits to use as deals towards the new stadium).
If they get the fans vote, this is ultimately all that will be required to head the move. There'll be enough finance to make it happen with out the CPO's. |

Thankfully I'm not a Smoggy (though a number of my mates are.) Even worse - lifelong Aberdeen fan! Still we are the only Scottish club to have won 2 European trophies; not that that counts for much now.
Maybe the 8 years of history bit was a tad harsh - it could be worse, Rangers arent't going to have any history at all at the end of the season by the looks of things Oh and fair play to Chelsea for the win yesterday - awesome save by Cech at the end.
Back to the matter in hand - from what you're saying looks like good chance things will go ahead, shame for an iconic landmark I guess, freeze festival aside, but money always talks...and Roman certainly isn't short on that |
