Could anyone explain why every sunday I have to re-enter my username and password to access the site?
Cheers peeps. |

Amnesia, as emphasised by forgetting you posted this twice (I deleted the other one!)
I certainly don't know. Is it something to do with your browser settings? I know that every now and again I have to enter my username, but I don't know why... |

| I have looked at the browser settings but they are fine. I'm using firefox but the same thing is also happening in IE. It's only the SCUK site that is forgetting my auto login details every sunday. |

| Your log in do time out like with most sites. We certainly don't have anything running on a Sunday that does this. |

If you tick the "remember me" thing, then presumably it drops a cookie into your browser.
Logging on here and ticking "remember me" gives you 8 cookies (don't tell the moronic Euro cookie law people).
Four of those appear to be Google Analytics.
The other four are Post Nuke/phpBB related. A couple are obviously session related (they die when you go away), the other two have expiry dates. So if your login dies (mine does), then it's most likely because those cookies have expired.
Depending on how the "forum" is coded it probably doesn't refresh the cookie every time you re-use it (rolling window), in which case if you regularly log in then it'll regularly expire. Something like that. |

Had to read through that bloody ICO document many many times at work to confirm we comply with the rules, the ICO themselves even stated that they are unsure whether implied consent would be inline with the law.. morons! They wrote the bloody thing! |

You pretty much have to use cookies to maintain a session on any website. I don't think the issue is with those. ICO is more to do with cookies that track people between sites; the ones that mean that because you once shopped for pet insurance, that Google Ads decides to show you pet insurance ads on every site you visit. I ALREADY BOUGHT IT!
If we were compliant with the law, we'd have to ask whether you actually wanted to be able to log on to the site. That's a given surely. We certainly don't intend to change anything on the current site because of the legislation. |
