We are off to Austria next Sat, but one of our group fell over last night whilst stumbling back from the pub & has broken his little finger
We think he could strap/ splint it up, wear mitts......
Wondered if anyone else has boarded with a similar injury?
He's seeing a specialist on Tues & just hoping he doesn't have to have it pinned.
Know the Dr will tell him not to go but...well I'm sure you all know
Cheers |

I broke my finger on the good old Norwich dry slope a few days before I was flying out to the Alps, I still went and just strapped my fingers together and took loads of painkillers with me, although I was a little cautious at first, I soon forgot about my dodgy finger and had a good shred.
It goes without saying, make sure he wears mitts and nothing else, plenty of padding and duct tape and he will be sound. |

Didnt really come across right, I meant to say dont wear pipe gloves or any gloves of that type, I learnt my lesson with that one, ended up having to buy a pair of mitts in resort, worked much better. |

| If he doesn't need it wired or fixed quick a good bit of tape and pain killers will do the job. I don't know about Austria but if it was France the over the counter pain killers are amazing |

| Mitts, and decent ones at that! I think your friend might be gutted if they missed out, I think I'd still go with a broken finger. |

did the same myself last year - bust my finger a fortnight before goin to austria.
1) let insurance company know otherwise insurance can be invalid for not disclosing prior conditions. Mine at the time (SCUK) was happy as it was only 1 broken bone...
2) if it's pinned then he really shouldn't board - any fall on the pins with either use them as a lever and cause more damage or bend the pins screwing it all up... if this is the case then cancel (just him, or even the group) and claim on insurance.
but basically, wear mitts (with padding) - I found it tricky to find cheap ones that didn't have internal fingers/gloves, so I had to trim the sewing between the two taped fingers. I also wrapped the outside of the little-finger/hand with some packing foam sheeting stuff I found. Finally, he's going to have to ride within his limits and pretty much avoid the park... |

Went in and asked for painkillers, blank stares so I asked for nurofen and they gave me some. No nurofen+ though, or at least I didn't ask as I assumed they would have shown me more than 1 box since it was a pharmacy.
Gratuitous pics!
2 days after getting home I was bullied into going to hospital, it was broken. Nurse lady looked pissed when I told her I did it 6 days ago, taped it up then got the next gondola. |

He saw the specialist today & is having an op to have it plated/ pinned tomorrow, so he will not be coming along.
Luckily the insurance company have said they will pay out, small consolation but better than nothing |
