How much do you think I could get a week in Whistler next year?
I don't want to do a challet as a hotel or appartment are what me and the wife like. Do you think we could get a week for £1k each including passes and ski (I know, sorry) hire for the lady?

| Lift pass alone is £335 for a week. Leaves 665 for flights and hotel. I think you are really going to struggle. |

I think you could do it if you went down the package holiday route, say with Inghams. A week B&B with them at the mo is coming up around £916 in late January If you pre-book your lift pass you can get up to 25% off so add about £250 that, you're approx £1170.
Ok so you need to factor in ski hire too but with a bit of hard haggling and you could get it close to £1k each.
There are also Discover Whistler days throughout the season (usually early Dec, January and late season) so if you go when they are on you can get decent discounts of lift passes, hire and lessons. |

| how much spending money do people advise to take for two. Im not sure on how much food is etc.. but im guessing rather pricey ?!! I hope we can take home made sarnies out for lunch so that should reduce the price a little bit |

| They provide you with Microwaves on the mountain if you want to heat food up. And hot and cold water. Its the norm to take your own food. They are really good like that. |

| thats good.. so far im planning on taking around £500 so hopefully that will cover evening meals/snacks and anything else we may buy. |

| We got a 7 day trip in a sweet self-catered condo through Crystal for about £820 each. We ate out most nights (not expensive stuff) and burned though our spending money pretty quick. Travel would have been more or less ok except for a 3 1/2 hour delay at heathrow on the way out meaning a 2am resort arrival - the transfer from vancouver was kinda tough. |

Hmmm.. you can save a little bit of money on the lift ticket by purchasing the day passes from 711. You can buy them in Squamish or Vancouver on your way up and they only cost ~$65 per day so about GBP455 (where's my pound symbol?!) for 7 days.
Or like weewbbo suggested, plan to come in January when the "discover Whistler" days are on and the resort is always a bit quieter thanks to the post-Christmas lull. You get a really good deal then if you were planning on taking lessons anyway - although no discount on lift tickets only.
Early January is also a good time to score better value hotel deals. A friend of mine found ski-in-ski-out accomm on Blackcomb for $100p.n. last January.
When you are only here for a short period of time, eating out costs about the same as buying groceries. If you choose your restaurants wisely you can get a meal for ~$12 (Samurai Sushi, Dup's Burritos, Taste of India, Splitz, Gone Bakery, etc). If you want to buy groceries in Whistler I find Nester's to be the best value - but if you are driving up the highway stop off at one of the Squamish supermarkets for the best value!

I'm intrigued which 711 you got to for passes at $65 a day, i have one of those passes in my hand right now that i bought from downtown Van 711 and it cost $80. |

| Cheers for all that, it looks like I will do Europe next year and Canada the year after. I think that if i am going to go I should do it with a little style and spend a few quid. |

| If you wait and save up and do it the following year you can do a fortnight for only £130 more than a 1week stay costs (thats through inghams) , a 1week trip late feb/early march costs £830 while a fortnight comes in at 1K. More spending money is required,but if you are gonna go over to whistler then do it right, as for most its a once in a lifetime trip. (when we go in 2013 we are spending days doing heli boarding and cat boarding too, we are gonna do it RIGHT!! lol) |
