Here's this week's park at SNO!zone Scotland.

Scottish snow for music festival this weekend
Posted Friday 1st August 2008, 11:29 am by Dunx

The LIVE festival at Scotland’s famous beauty spot Loch Lomond this weekend will be blessed by a “snowfall” of 40 tonnes of snow that will be trucked in from SNO!zone Scotland to create a “snow beach” at the festival on August 2nd and 3rd.

Stars performing at festival, which include the Sex Pistols, will be able to enjoy the accurately named, “chill out zone” where deckchairs and sledges will be provided for VIP guests. The area is sponsored by iconic Scottish drinks brand, IRN-BRU 32.

Braehead park for Friday's SNO!storm with Stereo MCs
Posted Tuesday 29th July 2008, 4:37 pm by Dunx

Britain’s most iconic hip-hop act, Stereo MCs, are hoping for a warm reception when they play a free gig at SNO!zone in Braehead next month.

The band will be playing live DJ sets both on SNO!zone’s main slope and then for a free set in the SNO!bar on Friday 1st August.

The gig is set to be one of the most unusual locations they have ever played, ahead of their appearance on the main stage at the Live at Loch Lomond music festival.

The band will also be celebrating the launch of their third album, Double Bubble, which hits stores in July.

Stereo MCs were the first UK hip-hop act to make an impact on The US pop charts with their single Elevate My Mind, before going back to the studio to record breakthrough album Connected which spawned major hits such as Step it Up, Creation and the title track.

Following the success of Connected the band took some time off before releasing 2001’s Deep Down and Dirty and touring the world.

Stereo MCs will be playing live on the DJ set-up on the main slope for SNO!zone’s quarterly SNO!storm event which sees snowboarders and skiers attempt their most outrageous tricks and stunts.

Following that they’ll be warming up the crowd for the after party in the SNO!bar, which is located upstairs within SNO!zone, with a free to enter public DJ set from midnight.

Here's the SNO!zone Scotland park for this week. Sorry for the confusion, everything is out and open on Thursday apart from the airbag, which is open on Friday instead. SNO!zone have had a cat problem (the main hydraulic broke on Friday, repaired and working by Tuesday) so they didn't tear down the full park from last week, which remains with a few additions.

SKI & SNOWBOARD JAM Competition
June 7th – July 26th – Aug 23rd – Sept 28th – Oct 25th – Nov 22nd

SNO!zone Scotland is proud to announce the return of the TSA Showdown Series! This open and friendly jam is set up as a fun weekend freestyle competition and a really good excuse to give out some prizes!

Showdown, kindly supported by TSA & Ellis Brigham, was created as set of competitions anybody could enter from grass routes rookie to seasoned pro. The competitions will develop this time to encourage a team element as well as the tried and tested single format. Each competition will allow individuals to compete as normal and after each date your score will be added to that of your three person team’s to develop a TSA Showdown league table for both individuals and teams!
So far each competition has proven that the grass roots level has some of the most creative and inventive skiers and riders on the scene. With each date we have seen the numbers grow and expand to make this the no.1 monthly event not to be missed!

Competition does not have to be intense, the friendly jam format of the TSA Showdown has allowed every level of freestyle competitor to make some friends and have some fun.

Broken Kass means smaller park for Braehead tonight
Posted Friday 25th April 2008, 10:23 am by Dunx

This weeks Kassbohrer woes continue at the moment for SNO!zone Scotland, the part (an axel) which had not arrived earlier in the week has still proved illusive. Unfortunately due to the missing part we were unable to push any snow for the park this week and can only bring you 5 rookie features.

The park crew managed to take out every feature they can and have built without much snow, the tobogganing area has also been cannibalised to create a mini jib kicker. This will not impact on next weeks SNO!storm which is shaping up to be the best yet! We have already scheduled additional push and shaping time for SNO!storm to ensure we are on schedule for a massive park. Again we apologise for the inconvenience.

Cut down park for Braehead on Thursday
Posted Wednesday 23rd April 2008, 4:13 pm by Dunx

SNO!zone Scotland have had to dial down the park size for this Thursday due to replacement part for our Kassbohrer being delayed in transit. This will arrive by tomorrow morning, unfortunately they will be unable to push any snow until Thursday afternoon prior to the park night starting. They will be able to build a significant number of rookie rail, box and gas pipe features for the Thursday night park and academy freestyle lessons.

The Friday night park will happen as normal and, as Bags is the one driving Thursday night, he will ensure they have significant amounts of snow pushed for the Friday park features! The full park plan will be released on Friday morning and they will be allowing the park builders to get creative for the Thursday park! Sorry for any inconvenience caused.
